Location: Calabria, Italy

Date: Circa 1910 to 1912

During the years 1910 to 1912, three major events occurred in Peppe and Angela’s life: a daughter’s marriage, the birth of their eighth child and the birth of their first grandson.

A Daughter's Marriage

Their eldest daughter, Girolama (Gioma), was about 19 years old when she married Domenico Fiorenza and moved to the nearby village of Siderno Superiore.

A Daughter's Birth

On Monday 15 May 1911, Peppe and Angela’s eighth surviving child was born and like all previous births, it was a home-delivery. She was named Concetta, but her name was shortened to Cuncia. On this day, the dynamic Trimboli household consisted of daughters Meca and Peppa - respectively aged 15 and 12 years, and Rosa who turned 11 just three days earlier. Oldest son Vici, aged 9, was working with Peppe at the flour mill located next to the Novito River in Contrada Oliveto.  Ntoni, aged 7, was attending primary school and another son, Michele, aged 5, found himself in the position of no longer being the youngest member of the family.

Birth of a Grandson

Girolama probably wasn't aware of her pregnancy when her sister, Cuncia, was born, but eight months later, on 25 January 1912, she gave birth to her first child: a son named Paolo. Peppe and Angela become grandparents, welcoming the start of a new generation.

However,  it’s the birth of little, baby Cuncia and the new branch this added to the family tree that will guide future posts … fast-forwarding to Cuncia’s marriage to a young man named Salvatore Moschilla.
